Instructional Drawings
In groups, students are asked to write down 15 instructions. These instructions are to create a certain type of drawing, such as a landscape, abstract, allegorical, narrative or others. Each instruction is to be no longer than two sentences. The goal is to create a way through the sequence of instructions to compose a drawing that satisfies the mission of those instructions: to create a landscape, allegory, portrait etc.
Each group recites their instructions while the rest of the class draws. The drawers are not allowed to ask any questions about the instructions, they have to interpret them and find solutions to the problems. The instructions are provided in random order.
